Mumbai University has deferred all exams slated for today, July 26, in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts due to severe weather warnings from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Pooja Roudale, the Director of the Examination and Evaluation Board, confirmed the delay and stated that new exam dates will be announced shortly.
The University announced via social media platform X that the postponement aims to safeguard student interests and prevent any potential inconvenience caused by the heavy rains.
The IMD has issued a red alert for Raigad and Ratnagiri, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in these areas today. This precautionary measure is intended to ensure the safety of students and staff amidst the expected severe weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that Mumbai and its suburbs can expect moderate to heavy rainfall, with the possibility of very heavy showers in isolated areas. Although the city has experienced little to no rainfall so far, an orange alert is in effect for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Sindhudurg districts, forecasting moderate to heavy rain.
