Aaranyak, a leading biodiversity conservation organization, recently organized a one-day teacher orientation training program in Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) district, as part of the Wipro-earthian Sustainability Education Program.
The initiative was conducted in collaboration with Samagra Siksha Assam and aimed to equip educators with the knowledge and skills to implement school sustainability practices.
Held at Aaranyak’s Administrative Building, the event saw the participation of 31 teachers from 24 different schools. The program focused on the pivotal role teachers play in advancing sustainability education. Senior representatives from Aaranyak, including Mridusmrita Devi, Bobby Nath, and Ashish Bipin Shah of Wipro-earthian, highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into school curriculums.
Dr. Dipankar Lahkar of Aaranyak’s Tiger Research and Conservation Division provided valuable insights on biodiversity documentation and conservation strategies. Achitra Borgohain, Founder & CEO of Binbag, shared expertise on e-waste management and promoting a circular economy. Borgohain’s session on e-waste disposal protocols, particularly in Assam, helped teachers understand the practical applications of recycling and resource management.
The training featured interactive activities, games, and discussions designed to engage the participants and make the learning experience more effective. After the event, Wipro-earthian distributed three booklets to the participating schools, offering further guidance on sustainability education.
Through this training, Aaranyak aims to empower educators to foster environmental awareness among students, preparing them to take proactive steps toward building a more sustainable future.
