Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched three indigenous PARAM Rudra supercomputers as part of India’s National Supercomputing Mission, underscoring the country’s commitment to advancing homegrown technology. The launch highlights India’s increasing prowess in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and data analytics—critical for scientific progress and national development.

The PARAM Rudra supercomputers, developed by Indian scientists and engineers, signify a significant step in the country’s technological self-reliance. These high-performance machines will support cutting-edge research, from weather forecasting and climate modelling to artificial intelligence and data analytics breakthroughs. The machines are part of a broader strategy to boost scientific research and innovation in the country.

While unveiling the supercomputers, PM Modi emphasised that technological advancements must benefit all sections of society, particularly the poor and marginalised. His remarks reflect the government's broader goal of ensuring inclusive growth through technology, which could play a pivotal role in reducing inequality and improving access to essential services.

The National Supercomputing Mission, launched in 2015, aims to strengthen India's position in the global supercomputing landscape. With an investment of ₹4,500 crore, the mission has already benefited over 100 research institutions, significantly boosting their capacity for scientific innovation.

As per The Hindu reports, PM Modi also outlined ambitious plans, including establishing India's space station by 2035. The Prime Minister mentioned that the first phase of Mission Gaganyan, India's manned spaceflight program, has already received approval, further expanding the country's scientific and technological capabilities.

The PARAM Rudra supercomputers are set to accelerate research across diverse fields, including weather forecasting, climate science, and artificial intelligence. These systems will enhance India's capabilities in critical areas such as disaster management and environmental sustainability.

As India prioritises technology as a cornerstone of its development strategy, the PARAM Rudra launch marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward self-reliance and global leadership in science and technology. Stay tuned for more updates on India’s advancements in this field.
