25 government schools in Udupi district will soon be powered entirely by solar energy. The Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd spearheaded this initiative.
(KREDL), is part of a more significant effort to promote renewable energy and sustainable development across the state. With an investment of ₹3.5 crore, the project aims to slash electricity costs and provide a cleaner, more eco-friendly energy source for these educational institutions.
According to edexLive reports, the solar project will see the installation of rooftop solar panels across the 25 schools, generating a combined solar power capacity of 500 kW. The schools are expected to begin utilising solar energy within a month, with the entire project slated for completion in six months. The transition to solar power is anticipated to lead to annual savings of around ₹25 lakh in electricity expenses.
This project supports the Karnataka government’s broader commitment to renewable energy and strengthens the state’s educational infrastructure. These schools will significantly reduce their energy bills by embracing solar power while contributing to a cleaner and greener environment.
