The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued specific guidelines for JEE Main 2025, providing essential support measures for candidates identified as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).
According to the latest notification, these candidates will be allowed an additional hour, extending the exam duration from three to four hours. This compensatory time is intended to ensure they have sufficient opportunity to complete the examination.
The guidelines further clarify the use of scribes, a provision available to eligible candidates with disabilities. Candidates seeking this assistance must provide appropriate documentation to verify their eligibility. For candidates using a scribe, compensatory time is set at a minimum of 20 extra minutes per hour, regardless of the test length. Candidates who do not require a scribe but have a benchmark disability will still receive at least one additional hour for the standard three-hour exam. In cases of exams shorter than an hour, compensatory time is adjusted proportionally, with a minimum extension of five minutes.
Updated JEE Main Website and Registration Timeline
In addition to the new guidelines, NTA has restored the official JEE Main portal to its former domain, jeemain.nta.nic.in. This switch follows last year’s temporary change to jeemain.nta.ac.in, as NTA completed the transition to an in-house developed platform. Previously hosted by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the new platform now handles all application, admit card, and result processes on NTA’s servers.
Although the exact registration dates for JEE Main 2025 have not been released, the application process is anticipated to begin in late November 2024. Candidates are encouraged to check the official website regularly for updates on registration timelines and further details to prepare effectively for the upcoming examination.
