AP Officials Look into Eligibility of Candidates Chosen Under Mega DSC-2025

The authorities in Andhra Pradesh are looking into eligibility issues in candidates selected under the Sports Quota in the Mega DSC-2025 recruitment process amidst allegations about their TET qualification, caste certificates and sports credentials.

 

School Education Commissioner Thameem Ansariya and Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director Bharani spoke to the media at the Secretariat on Monday and denied allegations raised on social media and in a few media reports, saying they were not supported by official records.

 

The officials said eligibility of candidates was being looked at on an individual basis in accordance with applicable recruitment rules, official documents and verification from relevant authorities. They added that appropriate action would be taken if any certificate was found to be fake or if a candidate was found to have violated eligibility requirements.

 

At the same time, the officials said candidates who fulfilled the prescribed criteria wouldn't be penalised just because of allegations that had been raised against them.

 

TET eligibility rules clarified

 

Ansariya said the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is an important qualification for appointments to teaching posts for Classes 1 to 8. In Andhra Pradesh, qualifying marks are 60% for Open Category and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates, 50% for Backward Class (BC) candidates, and 40% for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Ex-Servicemen candidates.

 

However, she clarified that TET eligibility doesn't apply to certain posts, including Physical Education Teacher, School Assistant (Physical Education), Physical Director, Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) and Principal.

 

Responding to a specific allegation involving Ediga Prabhakar of Kurnool, who was selected for a Secondary Grade Teacher (SGT) post under the Sports Quota in hockey, Ansariya said he had scored 77 marks in TET Paper-II-B in 2018.

 

She said an inquiry into Prabhakar's case was already underway, and that any further action would depend on the findings of the inquiry committee.

 

Sports certificates are under scrutiny

 

SAAP MD Bharani said a tentative Sports Quota selection list was published, from August 8 to 14, 2025, allowing candidates and other stakeholders to raise grievances. Complaints that were received after the list was published were also looked at, she said.

 

She also clarified the position of cases before the Andhra Pradesh High Court. According to Bharani, 69 writ petitions have been filed in connection with the Sports DSC recruitment. However, she said these petitions were not specifically for determining whether judo certificates issued by the Andhra Pradesh State Judo Association were genuine or fake.

 

The government has said that individual complaints are being verified through official records and the relevant authorities rather than being decided on solely on the basis of claims made online.

 

The officials said scrutiny would continue and that action would be taken wherever violations are established. At the same time, they again said that candidates who are found eligible under the applicable rules shouldn't face adverse action just because their names had been connected to unverified allegations.
