Kendriya Vidyalaya warns against misuse of school uniform, logo in social media videos

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan warned students and the public not to wear the KVS school uniform, nor use the official logo, name, and other identifying features in their videos and photos on social media platforms such as Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. KVS have made it very clear that no one, not even a content creator filmmaker production house, digital media agency, or even a member of general public - shall be allowed to use these identification marks in a derogatory way on social media.

This comes after a romantic music video with youths in KVS uniform dancing went viral on social media.

"Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is the parent agency planning and operating the network of Kendriya Vidyalayas in India and abroad, as well as being responsible for the academic, moral, and overall development of lakhs of students, " the KVS press release read. "Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan has learnt that the KVS school uniform, official logo, name, and other identifiable features are being misused without permission in social media reels videos films, web content, and other digital/visual media, in some cases, the portrayal of KVS and its students is derogatory vulgar objectionable, misleading, or inappropriate, " the note said.

The organisation cautioned that any individual or content creator caught using Kendriya Vidyalaya uniform (or a similar one) KVS official logo name insignia, or identity, or any representation implying KVS affiliation in any reel video film song advertisement, web series, short video or digital/print content without prior written permission of KVS, shall be liable to legal proceedings.

"Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan shall initiate strict legal action—including civil and criminal proceedings, claims for damages, takedown actions, and prosecution—against any individual or entity found violating this notice, without any further warning," the official notice stated. "Digital platforms hosting such content may also be proceeded against, if required."

Additionally, KVians Official alumni also posted a similar appeal on their official Instagram account. "School uniforms represent the identity and integrity of students and the organization. Such use without obtaining proper permission may result in a falsified perception and it could also lead the department to lose the esteem that is usually associated to KVS.with all my heart, I plead the KVS administration to check this issue and take suitable measures to avoid any misuse of the institution's name, uniform, or identity. Safeguarding the image of our educational institutions is a joint effort, and it is of utmost importance that they are portrayed with the dignity that is rightfully theirs, " the post stated.
