Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has invited applications for its Law Internship Scheme 2026, offering law students an opportunity to gain exposure to legal research, investigation procedures, and the functioning of India’s premier investigative agency.

According to the official notification, the internship programme will offer 30 positions across six major cities — Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Bangalore.

Internship Details

The internship is open to Indian nationals pursuing law degrees from recognised universities and institutes. Students enrolled in both five-year integrated LLB programmes and three-year LLB courses are eligible to apply under specified academic criteria.

For candidates pursuing a five-year integrated law programme, applicants should either be undergoing or have completed the eighth semester. Meanwhile, students enrolled in a three-year LLB programme must be undergoing or have completed the fourth semester.

The internship duration will range between three to six months. The programme, however, is unpaid.

Selection And Learning Exposure

Selected interns are expected to gain practical exposure to legal and investigative work related to criminal law, prosecution procedures, and legal documentation within the CBI system. The programme is aimed at helping law students understand the functioning of investigative agencies and the legal framework governing criminal investigations in India.

The internship may also provide opportunities to work on legal research assignments and observe institutional procedures associated with investigation and prosecution.

Application Process

Applications for the CBI Law Internship Scheme 2026 must be submitted online through the application link mentioned in the official notification.

The last date to apply is May 20, 2026.

Students seeking additional details regarding eligibility, required documents, and internship guidelines can refer to the official notification available on the Central Bureau of Investigation official website.
