RIMT University, in collaboration with the Global Educational Research Association (GERA), honoured distinguished academicians Dr B S Bhatia and Prof Saamdu Chetri with the Lifetime Achievement Award during EDUCON 2026.
The awards recognised the contributions of both education leaders in their respective fields and highlighted their impact on higher education, research, sustainability, and educational development.
Dr B S Bhatia, Pro-Chancellor (Academics) at RIMT University, was recognised for his contribution to academic excellence, research-driven education, visionary leadership, and transformative reforms in higher education.
According to the university, the award acknowledged his efforts towards strengthening academic standards and promoting innovation in the education sector.
Prof Saamdu Chetri, widely known as the "Happiness Guru" from Bhutan, was also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award. He was recognised for his work in Gross National Happiness (GNH), sustainability, climate resilience, and education reform.
The recognition highlighted his contributions to advancing concepts of well-being and sustainability within educational and developmental frameworks.
The awards were presented during EDUCON 2026, an academic event organised by RIMT University in association with GERA.
