The ongoing protests over alleged examination irregularities took a new turn after the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) released a video using Taylor Swift's hit song "Anti-Hero" to criticise Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, as demands for his resignation continue to grow at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

Shared by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, the video opens with the song's famous lyric, "It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me," alongside a montage of Pradhan. The video then cuts to images of PM Narendra Modi with tea referencing his  'Chai Pe Charcha' outreach programme, followed by clips of the protests at Jantar Mantar, as the lyrics go, “At tea time everybody agrees.”

The video has surfaced amid the CJP's protest, which entered its 23rd day. Since June 20, the organisation has been protesting against the alleged irregularities in some of the exams, including the NEET paper leak, alleged irregularities in the CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) system and the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak, demanding the resignation of Pradhan.

The latest development comes days after Pradhan referred to sections of the protesting youth and the CJP as the "B-team of terrorists," a remark that triggered political criticism.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had called on the Union Minister to apologise and resign saying the government botched the education system and caused harm to millions of students.

"Dharmendra Pradhan, immediately apologise to the millions of youth in this country and resign for your failures," Gandhi said, accusing the government of turning the education system into an "extortion racket."

Reacting to the minister's comments, Dipke suggested that Pradhan had the “blood of more than 17 students on his hands” and shared a video of the father of an 18-year-old NEET aspirant who had allegedly committed suicide, urging "how can you say that his son is a terrorist?”

Meanwhile, climate activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk, who joined the protest on 28th June, continued his indefinite hunger strike. The CJP said that doctors have reported Wangchuk's blood pressure reading at 104/66 mm Hg and he has lost 7.8 kg of weight since he started the fast.

CJP has issued an SOS expressing concern about Sonam Wangchuk's health and stating his protest was a move on behalf of the students allegedly affected by the irregularities in the examinations.

Student and civil society groups and activists also joined the protest, which included Samajwadi Party MP Pushpendra Saroj, former Kerala Health Minister K K Shailaja, and Bhim Army leader Himanshu. Speakers at the meeting urged greater accountability in public exams, and more robust security for question papers.

Wangchuk appealed to the citizens to take their responsibility in ensuring the future of students instead of waiting for others and urged them to join the planned March to Parliament on July 20, the first day of the Monsoon Session.

The protests have continued over demands for the resignation of the Union education minister and compensation for families of students who allegedly died by suicide following the NEET paper leak controversy.
