A professor at Indian Institute of Management Shillong has won praise online after surprising students with Domino's pizzas during a Sunday class, turning what could have been a long and exhausting day into a memorable classroom moment.

The heartwarming gesture, captured in a viral video, has resonated with students and social media users alike, highlighting the human side of life at one of India's premier management institutes.

A thoughtful surprise during a packed schedule

The video was shared by IIM Shillong student Rohan Saha, who explained that weekend classes are a regular part of MBA life. On this particular Sunday, however, students were scheduled to miss their lunch break because of back-to-back lectures.

Realising the demanding timetable, Professor Aruni decided to arrange pizzas for the entire class.

Sharing the video, Rohan wrote:

"Classes on Sundays are very common in IIMs, but sometimes a few professors go out of their way to make those classes bearable! Aruni Sir, being the cutest individual and the kindest soul, brought pizzas for all of us since we were about to miss lunch because of the schedule. Thank you, Sir!"

Pizza boxes bring smiles to the classroom

The clip begins with stacks of Domino's pizza boxes lined up inside the classroom before students eagerly gather around to collect slices.

What started as an ordinary lecture quickly turned into a cheerful lunch break filled with smiles, laughter and appreciation. For students accustomed to the intense pace of management education, the unexpected treat provided a welcome pause amid a hectic academic schedule.

Social media applauds the professor

The video soon attracted hundreds of reactions online, with many users praising the professor's thoughtful gesture.

Several commenters said acts of kindness like these often leave a lasting impression on students, while others reminisced about teachers who had gone beyond the classroom to support them.

Others responded with humour.

One user joked, "Imagine if you were dieting that day," while another simply wrote, "I will be present."

Some even quipped that they suddenly wished they had enrolled at IIM Shillong if pizza came with Sunday lectures.

Small gestures, lasting memories

While India's premier management institutes are known for their rigorous academic schedules, the viral video serves as a reminder that meaningful student experiences are often shaped by simple acts of empathy.

For the students at IIM Shillong, a few boxes of pizza transformed an ordinary Sunday class into a memory they are likely to cherish long after graduation.
