DRDO recruitment 2026: Walk-in interviews announced for 11 Junior Research Fellow posts, no written exam

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has invited applications for 11 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions at its Scientific Analysis Group (SAG) laboratory in Delhi. The recruitment offers young researchers an opportunity to work on advanced projects related to cryptography and defence research.

Unlike many government recruitment drives, the selection process will not include a written examination. Eligible candidates will be shortlisted solely through a walk-in interview scheduled for August 5, 2026.

DRDO JRF vacancy details

DRDO has announced a total of 11 vacancies across four disciplines:

  • Mathematics: 3 posts
  • Computer Science/Information Technology: 4 posts
  • Electronics/Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): 3 posts
  • Physics: 1 post

All interviews will be conducted on August 5, 2026, at the Main Gate Reception, Metcalf House, Delhi-110054.

Educational qualifications

Candidates must have a first-class academic record in the relevant discipline.

The eligibility requirements are:

  • Mathematics and Physics: Postgraduate degree in the relevant subject along with a valid NET qualification.
  • Computer Science, IT, Electronics and ECE: First-class BE/B.Tech degree with a valid NET or GATE score.
  • Candidates holding an ME/M.Tech degree in the relevant discipline are also eligible to apply.

The maximum age limit is 28 years as on the date of the interview. Age relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved categories will be applicable as per Government of India rules.

Salary and tenure

Selected candidates will be appointed as Junior Research Fellows for a two-year research tenure.

The fellowship includes:

  • Monthly stipend: ₹37,000
  • House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per rules
  • Medical facilities
  • Other admissible government benefits

The selected fellows will contribute to research projects in areas related to cryptography and strategic technologies.

Interview schedule and documents required

Candidates are required to:

  • Download and complete the prescribed application form.
  • Carry the filled application form, biodata, original educational certificates and supporting documents.
  • Report at the interview venue between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM on August 5, 2026.
  • Candidates may also email their documents in advance, as mentioned in the official notification.

DRDO has clarified that laptops, pen drives, cameras, mobile storage devices and other electronic gadgets will not be permitted inside the interview venue.
