JNUIMSRC Hosts NMC-Accredited BCME Workshop to Strengthen Competency-Based Medical Education

The Medical Education Unit (MEU) of the Jaipur National University Institute for Medical Sciences and Research Centre (JNUIMSRC) launched a three-day Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) Workshop in the presence of the NMC Regional Centre, thus strengthening its faculty development and excellence in medical education.

The workshop, accredited by the NMC, has been designed to enhance teaching and assessment practices in medical faculty, in the context of learner-centric approaches and competency-based medical education. The programme is designed to provide teachers with knowledge and skills needed to provide high quality medical education that meets the changing requirements of medical education.

Dr Sandeep Bakshi, Chancellor of Jaipur National University, emphasized the need for learner-centric education, academic excellence and competency-based medical education in the development of future health practitioners in the first session.

The workshop also saw the presence of Maj Gen (Dr) M.S. Tevatia, who highlighted the importance of structured faculty development programmes for the medical educators to develop competent medical educators. He appreciated the ongoing support and guidance received from the National Medical Commission for quality medical education.

The three-day programme will include sessions on curriculum planning, contemporary teaching learning techniques, assessment techniques and effective feedback practices for improving classroom and clinical teaching by participating faculty members.

Dr Indu Mohan, Coordinator of NMC, explained the purpose of the workshop and its contribution towards the advancement of competency-based medical education by regular faculty training and academic innovation.

Through such efforts as the BCME Workshop, JNUIMSRC continues to foster academic excellence by investing in faculty development and the advancement of learner-centered and competency-based medical education, equipping educators to keep up with the changing demands of the healthcare industry.
