IIT Kanpur Launches Online Certificate Course in Advanced Data Science and Machine Learning for Business Analytics

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has launched a six-month online certificate programme in Advanced Data Science and Machine Learning for Business Analytics, aimed at helping working professionals build expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and business analytics. The programme is scheduled to commence on October 3, 2026.

According to IIT Kanpur, the online course has been designed to equip professionals with industry-relevant AI and ML skills that can be applied to solve complex business problems, improve decision-making, and support digital transformation across industries.

Industry-Focused Curriculum

Developed in collaboration with faculty from leading IITs and IIMs, the programme offers a practical learning experience combining theoretical concepts with real-world applications. Participants will receive hands-on training in:

• Python programming
• R programming
• Data analysis
• Data visualisation
• Machine learning techniques
• Generative AI applications

The curriculum focuses on enabling learners to analyse business data, automate routine processes, generate actionable insights, and apply AI-driven solutions to organisational challenges through practical projects and case studies.

Eligibility Criteria

The programme is open to:

• Graduates from a recognised university or institution with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks, or
• Working professionals with at least three years of relevant work experience and a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in graduation.

Applications for the programme will remain open until mid-September 2026.

Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Abhinav Tripathi, Programme Coordinator and faculty member in the Department of Management Sciences at IIT Kanpur, said that AI and machine learning have become essential capabilities for professionals across sectors.

He noted that the programme has been designed to help participants combine their domain expertise with AI and ML tools, enabling them to innovate, solve business problems using data-driven insights, and lead organisational transformation with confidence.

Programme Fees

The fee structure for the certificate programme is as follows:

• Application Fee: ₹1,000 + 18% GST
• Programme Fee: ₹85,000 + 18% GST

All payments must be made through the online payment mode.
