Adamas University will host an ICC Awareness Session on the theme of inclusive academic institutions, gender equity and prevention of sexual harassment in academic institutions. The session is being conducted by the university's Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and Samdarshi as part of the initiatives to create a safer and more equitable academic environment.
The awareness session will take place on 18th August 2026 from 1:00 PM onwards in the Video Conference Room of the Adamas University. The session will be dedicated to open discussions on safety, dignity, equality and shared responsibility to build a campus where all individuals feel safe and valued.
Prof. (Dr.) Piyali Sur, Professor & Head of the Department of Sociology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, will be the speaker for the session. The conversation should highlight the need for creating inclusive academic environments and increasing awareness of gender equality and sexual harassment prevention.
The initiative is accompanied by a focus on raising awareness among the university community of their shared responsibility for promoting a culture of respect on campus. These discussions can also contribute to students and the academic community understanding the significance of dignity, equality and mutual respect, in addition to being aware of institutional mechanisms.
The ICC Awareness Session is an initiative by Adamas University to foster an environment on campus where issues related to safety and equality can be openly discussed. The programme also emphasises the importance of education providers providing environments free from discrimination, harassment and fear for students and staff.
