The educational qualification of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has come under scrutiny following conflicting claims over whether he completed his reported master’s degree at Boston University (BU) in the United States.

Dipke has publicly stated that he completed a Master’s in Public Relations from Boston University. However, questions have been raised online over whether he graduated from the university, with former students, academics and freelance journalist Abhijit Iyer-Mitra discussing the matter publicly.

A former Boston University student and podcaster, Sikander, claimed that Dipke was indeed a student at the university but alleged that he did not complete his degree. According to Sikander, he contacted a former professor from BU’s College of Communication to verify whether Dipke had attended the institution.

Sikander said the professor confirmed that Dipke had been a student in the professor’s class. He also claimed that another BU academic, Amy Shanler, confirmed knowing Dipke and having taught him.

The distinction between attending Boston University and graduating from the university has become central to the controversy. While the claims establish that Dipke attended BU, they do not independently establish whether he completed the requirements for a master's degree.

Dipke has rejected the doubts surrounding his qualification and said he is prepared to provide documents supporting his educational claim. He has also shared photographs with people he identified as fellow Boston University students as evidence of his association with the university.

However, freelance journalist Abhijit Iyer-Mitra has questioned whether the photographs prove Dipke's graduation. In a post on X, Mitra claimed that facial-recognition analysis of identifiable individuals in one photograph showed two people, Sam Nickerson and Wes Moran, whom he identified as bachelor's students at Boston University rather than master's students.

The claim has added another layer to the ongoing public debate. Photographs showing a person alongside university students, however, do not by themselves establish whether that person graduated or received a particular qualification.

Mitra has also criticised Dipke over the delay in publicly producing documents confirming the claimed degree and suggested, without providing publicly established proof, that the qualification could have been forged.

The allegations remain contested, and the available claims do not by themselves establish that Dipke fabricated his educational qualification or that any document was forged. Confirmation from Boston University or authenticated academic records would be required to conclusively establish whether Dipke completed the claimed master's programme.

The controversy has nevertheless intensified scrutiny of the educational credentials cited by public figures, particularly when claims about degrees from foreign universities become part of their public profile.

For now, the key unresolved question is whether Dipke merely attended Boston University or successfully completed and received the Master’s in Public Relations he claims. An authenticated degree certificate, transcript or official confirmation from the university would settle the dispute.
