While India's AI job market is booming, there are AI and machine learning engineers finding opportunities outside India. The factor is not only money but the country, the ecosystem, and the lifestyle that other countries offer. For seasoned experts, the opportunity to work in specialized positions, on advanced AI initiatives, and on global product teams can be just as significant.

This might sound unreasonable to many given that the AI hiring market in India is growing. According to LinkedIn's 2026 AI Labor Market Report, India is experiencing the fastest growth in AI engineering hiring among the markets included in the report, with a 40% year-on-year increase.

Meanwhile, India is facing a shortage of individuals with high-level AI expertise. As per Randstad Digital report, more than 10% AI solutions and machine learning engineer jobs in India are waiting to be filled.

There is still a monetary consideration, especially for seasoned AI practitioners. Markets such as the US have large technology companies competing for specialised AI talent.
