Students who are yet to secure admission to the University of Delhi (DU) still have an opportunity to apply through the spot round, with 13,433 undergraduate seats remaining vacant across colleges and programmes.

The vacant-seat list includes opportunities at several prominent institutions, including Hindu College, Hansraj College and Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC). Vacancies have been reported across Commerce, Science, Humanities, Languages and Home Science programmes.

The university has cautioned that the figures are subject to change because of admission withdrawals, cancellations, seat reconciliation and resolution of grievances.

B.Com, Home Science Among Courses With Vacancies

Several programmes have reported substantial vacancies.

Swami Shraddhanand College has the highest number of vacant seats for a single programme, with 145 vacancies in B.Com. These include 66 OBC-NCL, 34 SC, 34 ST and 11 EWS seats.

The Institute of Home Economics has 131 vacant seats in B.Sc. (Pass) Home Science, while Lady Irwin College has 101 vacancies in the same programme.

Science programmes also account for a significant share of the vacancies. Shyam Lal College has 112 vacant seats in B.Sc. Physical Science with Chemistry. Vacancies are also available across programmes involving Physical Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and related subjects.

Vacancies in Humanities and Language Courses

Students interested in humanities and language programmes can also find opportunities through the spot round.

Dyal Singh College has vacant seats across Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi and Urdu programmes, in addition to vacancies in Science and Commerce.

Kalindi College has 68 vacant seats in B.A. (Honours) Sanskrit and 54 in B.A. (Honours) Hindi.

Zakir Husain Delhi College has vacancies across several disciplines, including 27 seats in B.A. (Honours) Persian, 27 in B.A. (Honours) Bengali, 32 in B.Sc. (Honours) Mathematics and 51 in B.Sc. DU Spot Round: Vacant Seats May Change

DU has clarified that the vacancy figures are based on the status as of 1 PM on August 23 and should not be treated as final.

The number of available seats can change because of admission withdrawals, cancellations, seat reconciliation and grievance resolution.

The university has also stated that the process of withdrawing admission will remain suspended during the spot round.

The spot round therefore provides another opportunity for eligible candidates who have not secured admission in earlier rounds. However, students must check the college, programme and category-wise availability before applying, as vacant seats may differ significantly across courses.

With more than 13,000 seats available, the spot round could offer students another chance to secure admission to DU colleges and programmes that may otherwise be difficult to enter through regular admission rounds.
