Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has instructed the Education Department to implement three-time attendance in 150 government CBSE schools in the state. Attendance will be taken at arrival in the morning, lunch and departure and the move is to enhance discipline, accountability and school functioning.
In the new attendance system of the CBSE schools in the state of Himachal Pradesh, teachers and students will be marking their attendance thrice in the school day, once in the morning, at lunch time and before leaving the school. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu made the announcement after a meeting with the Education Department in Shimla on 1st September.
The government has also declared a separate dress code for the teachers and students of these schools. The dress code for teachers will be effective from October 1, 2026, and each teacher will be provided with single-time assistance of Rs 5,000 to purchase the prescribed dress. A decision on the students’ uniform is expected within a week.
The Chief Minister said that about 1,200 teachers have been appointed so far. As the state rolls out the CBSE school network, more teachers are expected to be hired. The government has also announced that it will provide an additional Rs 80 crore to enhance infrastructure and facilities for students and teachers.
The broader program aims to offer quality education closer to home, especially in rural areas, said the state government. The Education Department has been requested to ensure the new measures are effectively put in place in the schools.
