The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee offers a set of financial assistantship schemes to bring about a uniform impact on the lives of all passing through its portals. Such scholarships thus operate in the background of a competitive setting at the institution.

Eligibility to apply :

IIT Roorkee offers a range of scholarships to suit various needs. They encompass both need and merit cum income-based scholarships, along with scholarships reserved for marginalized sections of society. The following is a systematic review of five prime scholarships and rules associated with each one of them on the basis of the available structure at the institute.

Merit cum Means scholarship scheme: UG and M.Sc. The scholarship will be awarded to eligible students of B. Tech., B. Arch., Integrated Dual Degree, Integrated M. Tech., Integrated M. Sc., BS-MS and MS with a minimum amount of Rs 1,000 per month for 10 months. Also, the students belonging to B. Tech. course shall be offered reimbursement of the balance tuition fees.

General, General (Economically Weaker Section), and Other Backward Class students whose family/parents/guardians are having income below Rs 5 lakh applicants must have Cumulative Grade Point Average and Annual Grade Point Average of 7.00 must have completed the registered courses with no disciplinary record - CGPA and course requirement may be relaxed for freshers The Scholarship will be available only for a limited total course duration of four years for IDD programs A maximum of 25% class strength can avail the facility.

There is an offering for students who are admitted through Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) in BTech, BArch, IDD, IMT, IMS & BSMS programs. The terms of this scholarship are very simple. Candidates should have an AIR upto 250 in the most recent JEE Advanced. Scholarship honors those with high ranks in admission.

INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education: The Scholarship for Higher Education in Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) Scholarship is a project launched by the Department of Science and Technology. The main goal of this Scholarship is to support students taking higher education in a science stream. Scholarship Eligibility : Candidates can apply for this Scholarship if they have obtained ranking among the top 1% students in class 12th or have gained eligibility ranking in examinations such as JEE Main and JEE Advanced or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test/National Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana.

Applicants opting for fresh scholarships in IIT Roorkee with Integrated MSc in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics need to come from a family with a parental income not exceeding Rs 5 lakh, and they have to be previous recipients of this scholarship. Students in their first year of studies in BS-MS and MSc programs or Integrated MSc students will qualify if they obtain an AIR of 10,000 or lower in JEE (Advanced 2021) or in Joint Admission Test for Masters in 2022.

Dr. S. K. Goel & Mrs. Kusum Goel Scholarship: Founded in 2022, this scholarship, named ‘Dr. S K Goel & Mrs. Kusum Goel Scholarship’, is intended for financially needy students pursuing an undergraduate course. Every short-listed student is granted a scholarship of Rs. 2 lakh per year. A new candidate will be inducted each year until 2025, and then four students will be provided with this scholarship in a year. The scholarship will be in force for four years in the BTech course if CGPA is 7.5.

Eligibility: First-year students in BTech in General/OBC categories with a family income of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh.

Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students Pursuing Engineering Education Two students will benefit from this scholarship every year with an award of $1,000 per year. The scholarship will benefit students for a period of four years if they attained a CGPA of 7.0. A minimum of one scholarship will be offered to an eligible female candidate. The candidates offered this scholarship will have to be in their first year pursuing a course in BTech in General/OBC categories with a two-thirds tuition fee waiver but not availing any other scholarship of this nature.
