IIT Gandhinagar is inviting applications for the Summer Research Internship Programme 2026. Both UG and PG students are welcome to team up with faculty members on genuine research activities. The last date for registering is March 5, 2026. Applicants can visit the official SRIP portal to submit their applications. The internship period is from May 7 to July 16, 2026. Those selected will dedicate a minimum of eight weeks at the campus doing research work.

It seems like a good chance to get practical experience. Plus, it helps build skills in a serious setting. The work is focused and hands, on. Time commitment is clear, students must stay on campus for that period. This could be a strong step in their academic path.

Eligibility and Application Process

The programme is open to students currently enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degree programmes. In addition to Indian applicants, the institute has also allowed international students studying in India to apply through a separate track under the same programme.

There is no restriction on academic discipline, enabling students from engineering, sciences, humanities and other fields to apply, provided they meet the basic eligibility criteria of being enrolled in a recognised academic programme.

Applicants are required to submit their forms online through the official SRIP portal before the March 5 deadline. The institute has advised students to complete their applications well in advance to avoid last-minute issues.

Stipend and Awards

Successful interns will be awarded 2, 000 each week for a maximum of eight weeks, which comes to 16, 000 rupees for the whole duration of the internship. The stipend is provided to assist interns in meeting their basic living expenses during the period of internship.

Moreover, the institute offers the Bhalodia, Khetan Summer Research Excellence Award with a cash prize of 50, 000 to the interns who show extraordinary performance and high quality research output during the program.

Academic and Cultural Activities

Besides research, SRIP 2026 has talks, chats, and journaling for students. Faculty gives lectures. There's a casual chat series called Chalk the talk. Students also write about their research in a Diaries section.

Work is shared in a poster session, common at academic events. Cultural moments and sports are part of it too. Interns get to meet people around campus. They learn more about research, and have fun.

This seems like a balanced mix of learning and community.
