The National e-Governance Division (NeGD), functioning under the Digital India Corporation and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has invited applications for its Non-Technical Summer Internship Programme 2026 aimed at university students interested in India’s digital governance ecosystem.
The internship programme is designed to provide students with practical exposure to public service delivery systems, digital governance initiatives and emerging policy frameworks linked to India’s digital transformation efforts.
A total of 10 internship positions are being offered across five operational categories:
Programme Management – 5 seats
Awareness and Communication – 2 seats
Capacity Building – 2 seats
Technology Management – 2 seats
Project Appraisal – 1 seat
Selected interns will work on assignments related to policy documentation, data analytics, Natural Language Processing (NLP), digital governance research, data privacy under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and cloud computing.
Eligibility criteria
Students meeting the following conditions can apply:
Candidates must have secured at least 60 per cent marks in their last qualifying examination.
Applicants should be pursuing pre-final or final year diploma, undergraduate, engineering, integrated or dual-degree programmes under recognised education patterns such as 10+2+3, 10+2+4 or 10+2+5.
The eligibility requirement may be relaxed in exceptional cases depending on organisational needs and approval from competent authorities.
Officials clarified that meeting minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection, as candidates with stronger academic profiles and higher qualifications may receive preference.
Selection process
According to the notification, shortlisting will primarily be based on academic performance in qualifying examinations, followed by interviews or evaluation by NeGD’s internal selection committee.
Additional weightage will be given to applicants from institutions ranked among the top 100 in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) issued by the Ministry of Education.
Interns selected for the programme will work under direct mentorship from Heads of Divisions within NeGD.

Last date to apply: June 7, 2026
Interviews and evaluations: Third week of June
Final selection communication: Fourth week of June
Internship duration: July to September 2026, extendable up to three additional months based on performance and organisational requirements
