IIT Mandi Summer Internship 2026 Applications Open; Selected Students to Receive ₹10,000 Monthly Stipend

IIT Mandi invites pre-final year undergraduate and first-year postgraduate students for its Summer Internship Programme 2026, offering research opportunities, faculty mentorship, and a stipend of ₹10,000 per month.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi has opened applications for its Summer Internship Programme 2026, offering students an opportunity to gain hands-on research experience while receiving a monthly stipend of ₹10,000.

The programme, scheduled to run from May 25 to July 24, 2026, is designed to expose students to advanced research in science, engineering, and technology. Depending on the project and faculty requirements, the internship duration can range from one month to a maximum of two months.

According to IIT Mandi, the initiative aims to help students strengthen their research aptitude, develop technical skills, and gain practical exposure to cutting-edge academic projects under the guidance of experienced faculty members.

The internship is open to students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies. For engineering and technology programmes, only pre-final year undergraduate students, typically those in their third year, are eligible to apply. In the postgraduate category, only first-year students can participate.

The institute has also specified that applicants must belong to institutions that have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Mandi. Candidates are advised to verify their eligibility before submitting applications.

Apart from financial support, selected interns will have the opportunity to work closely with researchers and faculty members, engage in ongoing research projects, and access the institute's academic and laboratory facilities. The programme is expected to provide valuable exposure to the research ecosystem of an IIT and help students prepare for higher studies, innovation-driven careers, and future research opportunities.

IIT Mandi said the internship offers an ideal platform for students interested in exploring emerging technologies and expanding their academic horizons beyond classroom learning.
