The Delhi Police has felicitated 16 student innovators who developed technology-based solutions to address real-world policing challenges during its Summer Internship Programme 2026.

Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar presented certificates of appreciation and souvenirs to the students at a felicitation ceremony held at the Police Headquarters.

The two-month internship programme was designed to connect students and academic institutions with the police force while giving young innovators an opportunity to work on practical challenges faced by the department.

The programme began on June 8, 2026, and received more than 400 applications from students studying at universities and technical institutions.

Delhi Police Internship: 16 Students Selected

Following the selection process, 16 students were chosen for the programme from institutions including IIT Delhi, Delhi Technological University (DTU), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Jamia Hamdard and Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology, among others.

During the internship, the students worked under the guidance of officers from the Delhi Police Tech and Project Implementation Division.

The programme provided the interns with an opportunity to understand policing requirements first-hand and apply their technical knowledge to challenges encountered by the department in its daily operations.

Students Develop Four Technology Solutions

During the two-month internship, the selected students developed four functional technology solutions.

The projects focused on areas including:

• Improving administrative work
• Streamlining internal processes
• Strengthening citizen services
• Supporting technology-driven policing

According to the Delhi Police, the solutions were developed to contribute to the department's ongoing digital transformation and its efforts to build more efficient and citizen-centric systems.

Rather than limiting the internship to classroom-based learning, students were exposed to actual operational requirements and worked on technology applications aimed at solving specific departmental challenges.

Delhi Police Felicitates Student Innovators

At the felicitation ceremony, the Delhi Police highlighted the students' innovation, dedication and technical capabilities.

The department described the internship as an initiative to empower young innovators, harness technology and develop smarter, more citizen-centric policing systems.

For the participating students, the programme also provided practical exposure to public-sector technology challenges. Working directly with police officials allowed them to understand how technical solutions can be adapted to real-world administrative and citizen-service requirements.

The initiative reflects the growing focus on collaboration between educational institutions, young technology professionals and government agencies to develop practical digital solutions for public services.

By involving students from leading technical and higher education institutions, the Delhi Police Summer Internship Programme aims to create a platform where academic knowledge can be translated into technology-driven solutions for governance and policing.
