On 11th of July 2026, Alliance University organized Tulu Yakshagana Workshop and Demonstration Programme at Kalataranga, which brought together students, artists, researchers and cultural enthusiasts to explore and appreciate the rich heritage of Tulu Yakshagana and Indian performing arts.
The programme presented to the participants an opportunity to know about the traditional folk art through an interactive theatre and live demonstration, underlining cultural and artistic values.
The workshop was titled as “Legacy of Tulu Yakshagana”
The workshop was an introduction to the Tulu Yakshagana traditions, wherein they learnt about the tales, music, costumes and performance style of Tulu Yakshagana, which has been handed down from generation to generation.
The live performance enabled the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the distinctive elements of the traditional folk theatre and its contribution to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the region.
A Cultural Highlight was held for the Indian cultural heritage
The organisers said the programme was organised to create awareness about the Tulu heritage and to create an interest in the performing arts of India. The workshop provided an opportunity for the participants to experience the art form and to learn about its history and culture.

The event saw the involvement of students, artists, researchers and culture lovers who had a glimpse of the cultural values and art forms of Tulu Yakshagana.
The university say the workshop was a continuation of the quest of the Alliance University to foster cultural education and create avenues for meaningful interaction with the traditional art forms of India.
