MIT India has announced the MIT India National Hackathon 2026, a national-level innovation competition that aims to encourage students to solve real-world industry challenges through technology-driven and product-focused solutions. The hackathon will bring together student innovators from across the country and provide opportunities for mentorship, industry exposure and national-level recognition.
The competition will be conducted in two stages, with the qualifying round scheduled during IRS 2026 in Pune on August 21–22, 2026, followed by the National Grand Finale at IES 2026 in New Delhi on October 24, 2026.
MIT India National Hackathon 2026 to Be Held in Two Phases
The hackathon will begin with the qualifier round at IRS 2026, Pune, where participating teams will present their ideas and working solutions before a panel of experts.
The top 30 teams from the qualifier will advance to the National Grand Finale, which will be organised during IES 2026 in New Delhi.
According to the organisers, the platform is designed to encourage students to transform innovative ideas into practical products while addressing real industry problems.
₹25 Lakh Prize Pool Announced
The organisers have announced a ₹25 lakh prize pool for the competition.
This includes ₹7 lakh in cash prizes, while finalists will also receive several technology and industry benefits aimed at supporting innovation and product development.
Finalists to Receive AWS Benefits and Cloud Credits
Students qualifying for the National Grand Finale will receive AWS Certification Vouchers worth ₹10,000 per participant.
Each finalist team will also receive cloud credits worth up to ₹20,000 to support the development and testing of their solutions.
These benefits are intended to help participants strengthen their technical skills while building scalable technology solutions.
Industry Mentorship and Expert Evaluation
Beyond prizes, the MIT India National Hackathon 2026 will offer participants opportunities to interact with industry professionals and innovation leaders.
The organisers said finalist teams will receive industry mentorship, gain national visibility, and present their projects before a panel of 48 industry experts during the evaluation process.
The hackathon aims to create an ecosystem where students can develop practical products while receiving feedback from experienced professionals.
