MIT University to Host National-Level MIT India Hackathon 2026; Qualifiers on August 21–22, Grand Finale on October 24 

Avantika university in association with MIT Institutes, Vishwashanti Gurukul World School and Edugild is set to host the national-level hackathon in Delhi and Pune this month. The MIT India Hackathon 2026 will gather young innovators, aspiring entrepreneurs and tech enthusiasts from all parts of India to help them solve industry problems and create market-ready solutions.

The hackathon will be held in two phases as a national level initiative with MIT India. The Qualifier Round will be conducted at the Industry Institute Reconnect Summit (IRS) 2026 at Pune on August 21-22, 2026 and the National Grand Finale will be held at the Industry Institute Engagement Summit (IES) 2026 at New Delhi on October 24, 2026.

The competition is designed to give students the chance to take their innovative concepts and turn them into a real product by the help of mentors, interaction with industry and solving practical problems.

The idea behind the hackathon is that academic researchers and industry professionals are brought together to create solutions based on technology to real-life problems of industry and society, the organisers said. Students will get an opportunity to pitch their ideas in front of leading industry experts, and also get a good exposure of the booming startup and innovation ecosystem in India.

The MIT India Hackathon 2026 is the biggest draw in terms of the prize money, which is a total of ₹25 lakh, comprising a cash prize of ₹7 lakh. The top 30 teams in Pune qualifiers will be tentatively booked for the National Grand Finale in New Delhi where they will fight for the top honours.

In addition to the monetary awards, finalists will be given a variety of possible benefits related to their industry. AWS Certification Vouchers valued at ₹10,000 will be awarded to every participant that qualified for the Grand Finale and AWS Cloud Credits valued at up to ₹20,000 will be awarded to each of the finalist teams to enable them to develop their product and innovate using AWS.

The organisers added that the participants will also gain industry mentorship, networking and national exposure, and that the projects will be judged by a panel of 48 industry experts from academia, technology, and industry.

The initiative is a continuation of MIT India's mission to empower learners to learn through innovation and experience by putting classroom knowledge to the test. The hackathon will help participants develop a range of skills that are highly sought after in today's technologically-driven economy, such as product development, teamwork, design thinking and entrepreneurial problem-solving.

The MIT India Hackathon 2026 registration has officially begun on 10th July, 2026, welcoming students from all over the country to be a part of one of India's largest innovation hubs. The organisers have been calling for the young innovators to register at an early stage and have developed their solutions to address meaningful real world problems.
