On November 7, 2025, the Department of Environmental Sciences at Sister Nivedita University conducted a practical workshop, The Living Environment: Terrariums and Sustainability. The activity involved the students in the development of miniature terrariums, which was an effective way of learning about ecological balance and sustainability in an informal way.

Mr. Bikash Maiti, Founder and Director of Thriving miniature conservation pvt. ltd., and Dr. Supriti Paul, assistant professor in the Department of chemistry, Bethune College, Kolkata, were the experts who conducted the workshop. Their instructions enabled students to discover the notion of environmental consciousness and responsible management using the art and science of terrariums.

This project is meant to show the effort of Sister Nivedita University to create environmental awareness in the minds of its students in addition to academic education. The Department will help to engage in interactive experiences and bring expert knowledge to inspire the practice of sustainability and greater understanding of the fragile ecosystems of nature.

The university expressed gratitude to the facilitators because they provided a very insightful and inspiring session. The event is in line with the current activities at the Sister Nivedita University in order to create a more conscious and eco-friendly world.
