The Department of Psychology at IILM has effectively introduced Earthen Psyche -Biophilia in a breath of fresh air to modern students. It is a new kind of experience that demonstrates that mental health and nature are deeply intertwined and that with the help of a bit of green the stressed mind can become relaxed and creative.

Event Highlights: Creative Play with Nature

Participants were creative and used natural materials to create art through leaf weaving and clay modelling. The highlight of this event was planting of 100 saplings as a community plantation drive, which encouraged the adoption of eco-friendly practices. The beauty of the surrounding world has been captured in a breath-taking nature photography competition that combines technology with the wilderness.

The activities provided a sense of joy, teamwork and an actual sense of purpose, all of which brought about sustainability in daily life.

How Initiatives Like This Help Indian Students Excel

Programs like Earthen Psyche – Biophilia are beneficial for students. Here's why:

  • Reduces Stress and Anxiety: It has been found that exposure to nature reduces cortisol (stress hormone) by 20-30%. With exam stressed teens, a brisk walk or time in the garden miracles - imagine less panic on board exams.
  • Creativity and Concentration: Biophilia (love of nature) enhances the brain power. Such activities as clay modelling enhance problem-solving, which are best suited to psychology or design students.
  • Develops Emotional Strength: Nature mindfulness makes one resilient. In polluted urban India where screen time reigns, it combats loneliness and enhances mood, which are important to mental well-being in the era of competitive careers.
  • Encourages Sustainability Skills: By planting saplings, eco-responsibility is exercised. The future heads in psychology, business or environment sectors acquire real world advantage to green jobs.
  • Gives Psychology Career Boost: Preps for counseling with rising nature therapy; fits NEP 2020's holistic education.

Parents and teachers love it, kids learn while staying healthy and happy. It is a true win for nurturing both the mind and the planet! A much deserving appreciation to IILM Psychology Department for this innovative step.
