Graphic Era Hill University (GEHU), Dehradun, has announced the launch of SQL IGNITE 2.0, a two-week Summer Internship Program aimed at equipping students with practical database management and SQL Server skills through hands-on industry-oriented training.
Organised by the School of Computing, Graphic Era Hill University, the internship programme will be conducted in offline mode from 8 June to 19 June 2026. The initiative is designed to help students strengthen their understanding of database systems while gaining practical exposure to concepts widely used in the software and IT industry.
Focus on Practical SQL Server Training
As data continues to drive modern businesses, organisations are increasingly seeking professionals with strong database management and SQL expertise. SQL IGNITE 2.0 has been structured to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements by offering practical training in database development and administration.
During the programme, participants will learn key areas including database design fundamentals, stored procedures, views, triggers, database scheduling, job creation and database backup and recovery automation.
The internship will use Microsoft SQL Server as the primary tool, allowing students to gain experience with one of the most widely used relational database management systems in the industry.
Building Industry-Relevant Skills
Database management remains a critical component of software development, cloud computing, business intelligence, data analytics and enterprise applications. As organisations increasingly rely on data-driven decision-making, demand for professionals with SQL and database administration skills continues to grow across sectors.
Programmes such as SQL IGNITE 2.0 provide students with opportunities to develop practical competencies that complement their academic studies and improve their readiness for internships, projects and future employment opportunities.
The internship will emphasise hands-on learning, enabling participants to work with real-world database concepts rather than focusing solely on theoretical instruction.
Open to Engineering and Computer Applications Students
The programme is open to students pursuing B.Tech, BCA and MCA programmes, with organisers recommending a basic understanding of SQL as a prerequisite.
The training will be conducted under the guidance of Mr. Deepak Agarwal, Assistant Professor at the School of Computing, Graphic Era Hill University.
Growing Importance of Database Skills
Industry experts continue to identify SQL as one of the most important technical skills for careers in software development, data science, business analytics, database administration and cloud technologies.
Even as emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data gain prominence, SQL remains a foundational skill used across technology roles worldwide.
By offering focused training on SQL Server and database management concepts, Graphic Era Hill University aims to help students build a strong technical foundation while enhancing their employability in an increasingly data-driven job market.
