A class 10 student who had shared the stage with Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Mega Parent Teacher Meeting held in the state has committed suicide in Irlapalli village of Rampachodavaram mandal, police said.
The student, Murram Shivani, was studying at the Government Zilla Parishad High School, Rampachodavaram.
Shivani had addressed the gathering at Mega Parent-Teacher Meeting held just three days ago in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh. Her speech was said to feature her desire to be a "Shining Star" award recipient.
During the event, the Chief Minister invited Shivani to sit beside him on the stage, interacted with her and then shared a meal with students, which garnered attention.
Shivani, who was staying with her grandmother in Irlapalli village, was discovered dead by police, according to a report. A case has been opened and an investigation into the circumstances around her death is underway.
Investigators stated that they found a note that was handwritten on the scene. Shivani also reportedly apologised to her parents in the note, which said that she had wanted to work hard and fulfil their dreams. She also said she wanted to live but was struggling to live and asked her family members to stay together.
Police have not given any reason why the incident might have happened and said the search is ongoing.
