IIT Mandi is now accepting applications for its Summer Internship 2026. Pre, final year undergrads and early postgrads can join to learn research skills with real guidance from professors. The programme runs from late May to July 2026, lasting one or two months. Students work directly with faculty on actual projects. They get 10, 000 a month, lab access, and tools.
Students might find research more interesting. They'll learn how different fields solve problems together. After finishing, they'll get a certificate. It seems like a good chance to try something new. Plus, it helps build confidence in doing real work. Not many students get this kind of hands-on time.
Third, year B.Tech or B.E. Students, plus first year postgrads from schools with an MoU with IIT Mandi, can apply. Sign up online through the internship site. The form opens February 9, 2026, and stays open until March 30, 2026, at 5 p. M.
Pick a research topic and name the professor you'd like to work with. Upload transcripts, a certificate from your college, and a short note about your interest. Each school and research group looks at the applications.
They pick who fits best based on grades and how well they match current projects. It seems like strong academic records help a lot. But motivation and fit with ongoing work also matter.
Some applicants get shortlisted after a quick check. Others may need more time to review. The final list depends on team needs and student strengths.
The internship might start on May 25, 2026, and likely end by July 24, 2026. Chosen students need to stay on campus full time, doing their project work every day. They'll also have to get a no Objection Certificate from their school after being picked.
IIT Mandi wants to help students see real research early. It is supposed to grow fresh ideas and bring together young learners from different places. Seems like this could build teamwork and give students a real feel for what research is like.
