Jakarta: Applications are now open for the ASEF Youth Summit 2026, a fully funded international programme set to bring together young professionals, researchers, diplomats, and policy practitioners from across Asia and Europe in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Scheduled to take place from October 19 to 24, 2026, the six-day summit focuses on strengthening cooperation in science, technology, innovation, and international diplomacy. There are no application fees, and all major expenses will be covered for selected participants.

Fully Funded Opportunity for Global Youth

The programme is designed as a high-level platform for emerging leaders working at the intersection of science and policy. Selected participants will receive coverage for:

  • International travel costs
  • Accommodation
  • Meals and participation expenses

The initiative aims to remove financial barriers and encourage diverse participation from eligible countries.

Two-Stage Programme Structure

The ASEF Youth Summit 2026 will be conducted in two phases:

  1. Online Training (September–October 2026)
    A six-week virtual learning programme will prepare participants through interactive sessions on science and technology diplomacy, cross-cultural communication, and international cooperation. Around 100–120 participants will be selected for this stage.
  2. In-Person Summit in Jakarta (October 19–23, 2026)
    From the online cohort, approximately 40 participants will be invited to Jakarta for the physical summit. This phase will include workshops, high-level discussions, and collaborative sessions to develop a youth policy communiqué on Asia-Europe cooperation in science and technology.

Objectives of the Summit

The programme aims to:

  • Strengthen Asia-Europe collaboration in science and innovation
  • Build leadership skills in science and technology diplomacy
  • Enhance cross-cultural understanding among young professionals
  • Encourage joint solutions for global scientific challenges

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be citizens of eligible Asian or European countries
  • Be under 35 years of age
  • Have strong English communication skills
  • Be working as researchers, science managers, diplomats, or government officials in relevant fields

Selection Process

Selection will be based on:

  • Motivation and clarity of purpose
  • Demonstrated experience in science, technology, or policy-related fields
  • Potential to contribute to international cooperation initiatives
