GNITC Marks 6th Anniversary of NEP 2020 with Expert Talk on Education Reforms With Over 450 Participants

Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus (GNITC) hosted the Special Awareness & Expert Talk on "Key Reforms in National Education Policy (NEP) 2020", marking the sixth anniversary of the National Education Policy 2020, on 29 July 2026. This was a part of the institute's mission to promote innovation-driven education and academic excellence. 

The event was conducted online by the Departments of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI&ML), Artificial Intelligence & Data Science (AI&DS), and Internet of Things (IoT) alongside the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC 8.0), with over 480 students and 20 faculty members participating, highlighting the institution's commitment to policy awareness, innovation, and future-ready education.

Expert Session Highlights Key Reforms Under NEP 2020

The expert session was held from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM that delved into the critical reform in the higher education sector as outlined in the National Education Policy 2020, allowing participants to gain a deeper insight into its impact on India's higher education ecosystem.

The discussion highlighted the following transformative features of NEP 2020:

• Multidisciplinary education
• Skill-based learning
• Innovation and entrepreneurship
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Technology-enabled education
• Holistic student development

This session became a reflection of how these changes are equipping students for the future with knowledge, skills and adaptability in the technology-rich environment.

Dr. Alok Kumar Gupta Delivers the Expert Address

Dr. Alok Kumar Gupta, Deputy Director (Academic) and Head –Legal & Capacity Building Department, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Ministry of Education, Government of India delivered the keynote session.

Based on his academic and policy background, Dr. Gupta provided insights into the implementation and vision of NEP 2020, and how the policy will promote flexibility, interdisciplinary and more future workforce relevant higher education.

He urged the students and the faculty to take the road of lifelong learning, innovation and outcome-oriented education, and being aware of the bigger picture of the education reforms in India.

GNITC Reaffirms Commitment to Innovation-Driven Learning

This programme was run under the auspices of the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC 8.0), expressing GNITC's commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and academic excellence outside the classroom.

The institution thanked the leadership including Hon'ble Vice Chairman, Managing Director, Director, Associate Director and the Dean– R&D for their constant encouragement and support in bringing about this event.

GNITC also appreciated the efforts of the faculty coordinators, Institution's Innovation Council members and students whose active participation contributed to the success of the programme.

Promoting Awareness of India's Education Reforms

Such awareness creation and expert talk are also a significant way to educate the students and teachers about the various long-term goals of the NEP 2020 as the educational institutions continue to move towards NEP 2020.

GNITC is continuing its efforts of promoting both technology-driven and skill-based learning and has kept the conversation on educational reforms, through the convergence of the two parties, i.e., policymakers and educators and learners.
