In a significant step toward improving campus communication, Banaras Hindu University has rolled out official “bhu.ac.in” domain email IDs for all its students. The initiative aims to create a more secure, efficient, and unified communication system across the university community.

Previously, such institutional email IDs were issued only to faculty members, staff, and PhD scholars upon request. With this new move, the facility has been expanded to cover approximately 18,000 to 20,000 students. Each student will now receive a personalised email ID generated using their details from the SAMARTH Portal.

The university believes that assigning official email IDs will provide students with a verified digital identity, reducing the chances of impersonation or misuse. More importantly, it will enable targeted communication by allowing the administration to create specific groups based on categories such as undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and different academic streams like Science, Arts, and Humanities.

According to the university, this system will ensure round-the-clock institutional communication, regardless of time or location. Important announcements, updates, and notices will now be sent directly to students’ official email accounts, ensuring that no critical information is missed. It also opens up a more convenient channel for students to communicate with university authorities, such as Heads of Departments, Deans, or the Controller of Examinations, without needing to visit offices in person.

The technical implementation of this initiative will be handled by the university’s Computer Centre. To support the rollout, BHU has procured additional licenses from Google’s Workspace platform, along with enhanced cloud storage capabilities, ensuring reliable and scalable digital infrastructure.

In a parallel development, BHU has also strengthened its global outreach efforts by establishing a Fulbright Campus Representative (FCR) committee. This panel will guide students, researchers, and faculty members interested in international academic opportunities, particularly the Fulbright Program.

The committee will work closely with the United States-India Educational Foundation to identify suitable candidates and provide mentorship throughout the application process. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is introducing further changes to its curriculum that go beyond traditional academic subjects, aiming to make education more holistic and future-ready. Several key areas have been made mandatory for students across grades, reflecting the board’s push toward skill-based and experiential learning.

AI and Computational Thinking from Class III
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and computational thinking will now be a mandatory part of learning starting from Class 3. While full-fledged board exams on AI are scheduled only from 2029, current students in Classes 9 and 10 will engage in skill-based learning modules on AI. These modules focus on building foundational problem-solving abilities, algorithmic thinking, and understanding real-world applications of technology.

Vocational Education Integration
Vocational education has also become compulsory under the new framework. Schools will conduct internal assessments to monitor progress, and there is a strong possibility that vocational education will become a formal subject for board examinations starting 2028. This reflects a broader aim to prepare students for employment-oriented skills and hands-on experience alongside traditional academics.

Arts, Flexible Learning, and Physical Education

As CBSE moves toward a curriculum that blends traditional academics with skill development, AI, arts, vocational education, and physical health, the coming years will be crucial in testing whether schools and teachers can fully embrace the ambitious reforms.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has released its postgraduate prospectus for the 2026–27 academic session, announcing that admissions will begin soon after the results of the CUET PG 2026 are declared. The entrance test, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), was held between March 6 and March 27, and candidates are now awaiting the answer key and results.

As per the prospectus, admission to most PG programmes—including MA, MSc, MPH, MTech, PG Diploma, and Advanced Diploma—will be based on CUET-PG 2026 scores. Aspirants have been advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria outlined in the document before applying.

However, certain specialised programmes will follow separate admission routes. Courses such as MSc (Biotechnology) and MSc (Computational Biology) will consider GAT-B scores, while MTech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering will be filled through the Centralised Counselling for MTech (CCMT).

JNU has also urged candidates to keep essential documents ready, including academic certificates, marksheets, caste or category certificates (if applicable), and income proof where required, as these will be needed during the admission process.

The university stated that detailed information regarding the admission portal, schedule, and procedures will be released soon after the CUET-PG results are announced. Meanwhile, the NTA is expected to release the provisional answer key shortly.

The CUET-PG 2026 examination was conducted in both English and Hindi for most papers, while select subjects—particularly in higher sciences and technical fields—were offered only in English. Some specialised papers, such as Acharya programmes, were conducted in Sanskrit or in a trilingual format.

Candidates are advised to regularly check official websites for updates as the admission process is set to begin shortly.

University of Delhi (DU) is set to begin undergraduate admissions for the 2026–27 academic session in the third week of May, aligning the process with the commencement of the CUET UG 2026. The admissions will be conducted through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal, which is expected to open for registrations as the entrance exams begin on May 11.

University officials said the move follows last year’s model and is aimed at ensuring a smoother and more timely admission cycle, helping academic sessions start without delays. The CSAS portal will handle course selection, preference filling, and seat allocation based on CUET scores.

A key requirement for applicants remains subject mapping. DU Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi has advised students to ensure that the subjects chosen in CUET match at least 50% of their Class 12 subjects. This alignment is critical for determining eligibility and course options, and failure to meet the criteria may create complications during admission.

To further streamline the process, the university is planning to shorten each seat allocation round by one to two days. Officials believe this will reduce the overall admission timeline and allow classes to commence on schedule. Additionally, the CSAS portal will include enhanced prompts and guidance features to minimise errors during registration.

If successfully implemented, the revised timeline could help DU restore a more predictable academic calendar and potentially serve as a model for other central universities adopting CUET-based admissions. However, officials noted that delays in CUET results or technical glitches in the system could still impact the schedule.
