The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has opened applications for its Communications and Programmes Internship 2026 in Malaysia, offering students and recent graduates an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in international development, sustainability, and strategic communications.

The three-month paid internship is part of the Malaysia-UN SDG Trust Fund, a collaborative initiative between the United Nations in Malaysia and the MySDG Foundation, with support from Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance. The fund supports projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promote sustainable development across the country.

The internship is open to applicants from around the world and provides a monthly stipend of RM637.50. It is designed for individuals interested in communications, media, social impact, and development work, offering valuable exposure to the operations of a leading international organization.

Selected interns will work closely with the Fund Secretariat and contribute to a range of activities, including creating content for social media campaigns, drafting communication materials, monitoring media coverage, supporting events, conducting research, and assisting with project monitoring and reporting. The role provides practical experience in communicating the impact of SDG-related initiatives while supporting the day-to-day operations of development programs.

The opportunity is particularly suitable for students and graduates from fields such as Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, and Media Studies. However, candidates from all academic backgrounds are welcome to apply.

Applicants must be in the final year of a bachelor's degree program, have graduated within the past year, or be enrolled in an internship or placement program. Strong communication skills, creativity, and an interest in sustainability and social impact are considered important assets. Familiarity with digital tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and basic video editing software is also desirable.

The internship offers participants the chance to work on meaningful projects, develop professional skills, and gain insight into the United Nations system. It is an excellent stepping stone for those considering careers in international development, communications, public relations, or sustainability.

Interested candidates are encouraged to prepare an updated CV and a compelling motivation letter before submitting their applications through the official UNDP recruitment portal. The application deadline is 13 June 2026.
