The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has opened admissions for the 24th cohort of its General Management Programme (GMP), targeting mid-to-senior level professionals across the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe.
The eight-month executive programme aims at developing one executive leadership skills and enhance managerial performance in a globally changing business environment. The course approved by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority of Dubai combines the academic component with practical exposure through a learning format blending several elements.
This programme is designed with 100 blended learning sessions which include live-online classes and physical meet-ups. Also, participants shall be taken for a 10-day immersive campus experience in both Dubai and Ahmedabad. This will not only allow peer-learning and effective networking but also understanding each others cultures in the process of collaboration.
The curriculum is based on the study of cases of top global institutions including Harvard, and Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad's own teaching material. Focusing on organisational effectiveness, innovation operations, digital strategy, and decision-making, the programme seeks to build a wide set of capabilities in the participants.
The launch is set to meet the rising demand for structured leadership development programmes. According to the industry's latest figures, the global leadership training market, which has a value of over USD 82 billion in 2024, is predicted to grow substantially over the next ten years.
As the widespread use of artificial intelligence is expected to disrupt a large number of jobs worldwide, companies are doubling down on their investment in upskilling activities that focus on technology adoption, governance, and making decisions based on data.
Past groups have comprised professionals with 8 to 25+ years of experience from countries such as UAE, Saudi Arabia Kuwait Qatar Egypt the United States, and Canada. Among participants, there were representatives of sectors such as consulting engineering technology healthcare telecom, oil and gas, retail, and financial services.
The programme uses a case-based learning method, enhanced by assignments, live discussions, and a capstone project. Most students go through 40 to 50 case studies across different industries.
The curriculum starts with the fundamentals of management and gradually progresses to the advanced topics of strategy and governance such as finance marketing human resources, digital transformation, and AI ethics.
After passing the exam, the students are awarded a certificate and alumni status from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad which are tools for facilitating their promotion to senior leadership roles and also for getting access to their global professional networks.
