Dr Ashwani Sharma, veteran journalist and Head of the School of Media and Mass Communication at APG Shimla University, was felicitated for his distinguished contribution to journalism, media research, and communication during a special function held in Shimla.

The honour was presented by Himachal Pradesh Education Minister Rohit Thakur in recognition of Dr Sharma's remarkable 35-year journey in the field of journalism and media studies. The felicitation ceremony was organised by the Media Wellbeing Association, a prominent organisation working for the welfare and professional development of journalists across northern India.

The event took place at Hotel Holiday Home, Shimla, on June 9 and was attended by several media professionals, academicians, and public representatives.

Also present on the occasion were Naresh Chauhan, Principal Media Adviser to the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, and Surinder Chauhan, Mayor of Shimla. Office-bearers of the Media Wellbeing Association were also in attendance during the ceremony.

Dr Ashwani Sharma is widely recognised for his long-standing contribution to journalism, media research, communication studies, and media education. Through his academic leadership at APG Shimla University, he has played an important role in guiding aspiring journalists and media professionals while contributing to the advancement of media studies.
