GenZ is surely a different generation. Who would have thought to steal a fridge from HOD to protest? In what may be one of the most “cool-headed” student protests of the summer, students at Rajasthan University’s Central Library stood up for their basic rights after claiming there was no proper drinking water facility inside the library despite the intense heat conditions in Jaipur.

Students said that administrative offices on campus had better cooling and drinking water facilities, but that students who spend hours in the library were suffering without access to simple facilities. Students took a symbolic act to make their demand of equal access to basic facilities in the library unarguable by bringing a refrigerator straight into the library premises.

The meme-like protest soon became a hot topic on social media, with many users commenting that the protest was creative and relatable during the heat of the summer in Rajasthan.

Students claimed that complaints about drinking water and infrastructure problems had not led to any action. Some students also asked why the basic needs like cold drinking water were not available in the places where students are supposed to study for long hours.

The protest has now sparked broader debates on campus infrastructure, student welfare and disparities between administrative and student facilities in public universities.

The protest had a humorous visual aspect, but many students online noted that the problem itself is a bigger issue that is prevalent on several Indian campuses, where basic facilities are neglected.

In recent years, there has been a growing number of complaints about the lack of facilities for students at universities in India, particularly during hot weather and extreme weather events. During summer months, the temperature has been increasing due to the heatwave across the country, which has become a serious health concern for the students making access to cold drinking water increasingly important for students.

The viral fridge protest has now become a symbol of frustration and creativity, and yet another example of the fact that Indian students have a way of finding uniquely memorable ways to make institutions listen.

Despite the protest being a satirical way of demanding water, the underlying negligence is a topic of serious consideration. And students at Rajasthan university boldly conveyed a simple message that if water doesn't come to students, the fridge will! 

Presidency University Bangalore has earned national recognition in the latest higher education rankings, with its programmes in computer applications and engineering securing prominent positions in two major academic surveys for 2026.

The university's School of Information Science performed strongly in the GHRDC Best BCA Colleges Survey 2026, reflecting its growing reputation in computer applications education. According to the survey, the institution was ranked 6th in India among Top BCA Colleges of Super Excellence, 3rd in Karnataka under Top BCA Colleges by State, and 3rd in the South India region under Top BCA Colleges by Region.

The rankings place Presidency University among the country's leading institutions offering Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programmes, a field that continues to attract strong student interest due to growing demand for technology and software professionals.

The university's School of Engineering also received national recognition in CSR India's Top Engineering Colleges 2026 rankings. The school secured the 10th position in India under Top Engineering Colleges of Eminence and was ranked 4th in Karnataka among Top Engineering Colleges by State.

These rankings come at a time when students increasingly rely on independent surveys and institutional performance indicators while selecting higher education programmes. Recognition in national rankings often reflects factors such as academic quality, faculty strength, infrastructure, industry engagement, student outcomes and overall educational experience.

University officials said the latest achievements reflect Presidency University's continued commitment to academic excellence, innovation and industry-focused learning. With strong performances in both the GHRDC and CSR rankings, Presidency University Bangalore has further strengthened its position among the country's recognised higher education institutions, particularly in the fields of computer applications and engineering education.

In a move aimed at making industry-academia collaboration stronger in emerging technologies, Shoolini University has signed a five year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Antier Solutions Pvt. Ltd. to work together across Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLMs), Blockchain and technology driven innovation . 

The agreement was signed by Prof Ashish Khosla, President Innovation and AI at Shoolini University and Director of the Yogananda School of AI, Computers and Data Science, and Vikram Singh, Managing Director of Antier Solutions Pvt. Ltd.  

This partnership is expected to create opportunities for cooperative research, applied learning and inventive work, while also helping students get hands-on experience in some of the fastest growing technology areas worldwide.

Focus on AI, LLMs and Blockchain Technologies  

Under the agreement, Shoolini University and Antier Solutions will jointly look at projects tied to artificial intelligence, large language models, blockchain technology and other emerging digital innovations. 

The cooperation will also back student internships, placement opportunities, workshops, seminars, faculty industry conversations and research undertakings. As per the MoU, the understanding will be valid for five years , and it may further stretch into specialised projects and innovation focused programmes, through mutual agreement.  

The initiative is in line with a broader trend where universities and tech firms connect the academic side with real world industry needs, especially for sectors that are currently transforming quickly due to technological change.

Creating industry ready talent

As per Prof Ashish Khosla, this collaboration is an important step towards linking academic learning with real industry practice. He pointed out that working together in transformative areas like AI, LLMs, and blockchain would give students and faculty a direct view of advanced technologies, plus it can open meaningful routes for research, innovation, internships, and career development as well.  

In his view, partnerships between universities and technology organisations really matter a lot, as they help learners be prepared not just for today’s industry expectations, but also for upcoming technological shifts that are still coming.  

Growing role of AI in education and industry

Vikram Singh, Managing Director of Antier Solutions, shared that artificial intelligence is now becoming more influential across different sectors and educational ecosystems as well.  

He said Shoolini University’s strengths in research, biotechnology, and the ongoing work tied to indigenous large language models make the partnership especially notable. He also mentioned that the collaboration could support applied learning, joint innovation, student exposure, and future intellectual property development, in the spaces where AI, blockchain, and education intersect. 

He added that as organisations keep investing in automation, generative AI, and digital transformation, the need for professionals with hands-on expertise in these technologies keeps increasing. This is the reason why industry collaborations are increasingly becoming a core part of higher education plans, aimed at boosting employability and improving innovation outcomes.

Strengthening Research and Innovation Ecosystems

The partnership is expected to help build a more solid research ecosystem, basically by pushing knowledge exchange between academia and industry. In practice, students should get real exposure to hands-on, real-world projects , and faculty members can get chances to work together on research plus technology development initiatives.  

Now, with artificial intelligence , blockchain and large language models continuing to rearrange sectors from finance, healthcare, all the way to education and enterprise technology, this kind of collaboration is getting more and more vital. Maya Devi University recently organised a guest lecture on startup success and entrepreneurship, providing students with practical insights into building successful ventures, developing innovative ideas, and understanding the realities of the startup ecosystem.

The session was conducted by Mr. Dinesh Goyal, Founder and Managing Director of Startup Enabler, who interacted with students and shared his experiences from the world of entrepreneurship and business development.

During the lecture, Mr. Goyal highlighted the importance of innovation, continuous learning, and problem-solving in today's competitive business environment. He encouraged students to think beyond conventional career paths and explore entrepreneurship as a viable and rewarding option.
